Dr. J. Ellis Cosby

Dr. Cosby has spent most of his life right here in South West Georgia. He grew up in Bronwood and graduated high school from Terrell Academy in Dawson. After earning an Associate degree in Electronics, he was employed by GTE and the Department of Defense as a computer center technician. While employed with GTE, he graduated with an Associate Degree in Biology from Darton College and was named Darton College's Outstanding Science Student. He was then one of only two students selected from the state of Georgia to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiological Optics and a Doctorate in Optometry.
Dr. Cosby returned home to Albany and partnered with Dr. Jim Strom in June of 2000 until Dr. Strom retired in 2004, at which time Dr. Cosby became the sole owner of the practice. |
Dr. Cosby enjoys his work as an eye care professional and especially the close relationship he has with his patients. He is a past Georgia Optometric Association District President and is currently a member of the Georgia Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He enjoys fishing, camping, and spending time with his 2 daughters, Shelby and Candace. He and his wife Vicky are members of Lakeside Baptist Church in Albany.
dr. ABIGAIL M. POSEY

Dr. Posey was born and raised in Leesburg, GA. After graduating high school from Lee County, she attended the University of Georgia where she earned a Bachelor's of Science in Biology. She then moved to Birmingham, AL where she earned her Doctorate of Optometry from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2019. She is a member of the Georgia Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Posey is happy to be serving the eye care needs of Southwest Georgia. She is married to Jess Posey of Leesburg and they have one daughter named Rigsby. Dr. Posey enjoys traveling, fishing, and spending quality time with her family. |

Melissa and Megan are our Ophthalmic Technicians. They both are very proficient at making you feel comfortable while obtaining your complete medical history and all the pre-test information needed prior to seeing the doctor.

Front Office Staff
Khrista and Scarlet are responsible for making your check in and check out experience pleasant. They are very knowledgeable in vision and medical insurance plans.
Once they know what type of insurance you have, they can very quickly determine what you are eligible for and the amount your insurance plan is responsible for and how much you are responsible for.
These days, insurance can be a very complicated subject, and most people don't spend their time trying to understand their various insurance plans.
Our front office staff members are experts at breaking it down and explaining it in terms more easily understood.

Our Opticians are Chelsey, Mallory, and Sabrina. They all have an eye for fashion detail and can confidently assist you in selecting the perfect frame. They have up-to-date optical knowledge on the latest digitally designed lenses, progressive addition lenses, and specialty lenses for golf, computer, and the office.
